A family shop, in every sense
Ema's Family Barbershop is a family-owned barbershop and salon on North Central Avenue in Old Town Avondale — a neighborhood place to get a good haircut and feel welcome doing it.
Our story
The shop carries Ema's name, and it's run by her family. That's where the "family" in Ema's Family Barbershop comes from — and it's also who we cut hair for.
On any given day the chairs hold a mix of the neighborhood: a dad with a toddler on each knee, a teenager who knows exactly how high he wants his fade, someone getting a trim on a lunch break, a regular who stopped needing to explain what they want a long time ago.
We're a barbershop and a salon. That means classic barbering — clipper cuts, fades, tapers, beard work — alongside haircuts and styling for women and girls, so a family can get everyone's hair done in one place.
We keep the approach simple: greet people warmly, take the time to understand what they want, and do careful work. Walk in Tuesday through Sunday, or call ahead if you'd like to check the wait.
