Fades & tapers at Ema's
A fade lives or dies on the blend. Where it starts, how tight it gets at the bottom and how it melts into the length on top all change how the cut looks — and how fast it grows out.
Tell your barber how high you like it and how you wear the top, and expect clipper work in stages, detailing with trimmers and a crisp line-up at the end. Not sure what you want? Bring a picture, and ask what will work with your hairline and growth pattern.

Fades & tapers: common questions
What's the difference between a fade and a taper?
A taper gradually shortens the hair only at the sideburns and neckline, so more length stays around the sides. A fade blends down to very short or bare skin over a larger area, for more contrast.
How long does a fade stay sharp?
Fades grow out fastest of any style — especially skin fades. Many people come back every one to three weeks to keep the blend crisp.
Can kids get fades?
Yes. Fades and tapers are popular with kids and teens — see our kids' haircuts page for tips on first visits.
Can you blend my fade into my beard?
Yes. Ask for a beard trim with your fade and your barber will connect the two so there's no hard break at the sideburns.
Do I need an appointment?
No — walk-ins are welcome Tuesday through Saturday from 9 am to 7 pm, and Sunday from 10:30 am to 3 pm. If you'd rather plan ahead, call (623) 925-9714 or send the shop a message on Instagram to ask about an appointment.
